“Discover the best pintxos Basque tapas bars in town on a dinner crawl with Mimo San Sebastian, our idea of heaven.” -ELLE magazine
** One of our most popular experiences, ranked in the Top 10 Food Tours in the world by Trip Advisor **
Pintxos (Basque tapas) line every bar in San Sebastian’s famed Old Town, but knowing where to find the best ones is an art. While it’s hard to have a bad meal in town, knowing exactly where to go for the best, freshest, and most exciting pintxos takes local, insider knowledge. Do a night out in San Sebastian like a local, led by our friendly and knowledgeable Basque guides.
We dive straight into the culinary heart of the city for a night of eating and drinking unlike any you’ve ever experienced. From fresh prawns to line-caught baby squid to perfectly charred steak, the pintxo hunt changes nightly but always features a range of traditional spots and chic, avant-garde bars. Come thirsty, too, as we’ll be pairing each pintxo with the perfect pour, from cider to local whites and reds.
Our pintxo tasting tour comes highly recommended by the world’s authorities on travel: Conde Nast Traveller, Easy Jet, Vogue, Financial Times and many others. Stylist Magazine says "There’s no better overview of the city’s food scene".
We were on your Pintxo tour in early September. We are now on the train to Madrid and thence home to San Francisco. We have had a memorable month in Basque country...warm and friendly people, amazing landscapes, great food and wine, and a fascinating history. What better way to start things off with your delightful tour. Since your tour, and our MIMO class, we have been to Amelia, Arzak, Kokotxa, Narru and myriad wonderful neighborhood bars and restaurants, some in old town, but many more elsewhere. A new discovery: No 6 on Calle Garibai, only open a month, with an amazing and fairly priced wine list, wonderful fresh food, and a very knowledgeable Somm named Marcos. We visited friends in Hondarribia to see the amazing Alarde celebration. We made excursions on foot to Passaia(twice), Getaria, Zumaia, and the Geopark. We spent four days in LaGuardia exploring wine country and participating in the joyous harvest festival in Elvillar / Bilar (including weightlifting, wood chopping, folk dancing and a ritual first-pressing of grapes from all the surrounding villages brought in baskets by local kids in costumes, and then stomped by foot by local dignitaries. Oh, yes, we also spent plenty of time just chilling on the beach. For our last night, we decided that another Arzak-like experience was too much and that nothing could be more appropriate than cruising for Pintxos. We started at our favorite local, Amazona, in front of the dazzling fountain in Bilbo Plaza...two rosados and two Gildas, the sunset hour sitting watching the local kids race around their scooters, toddlers trying out shaky legs, moms, dads, grandparents enjoying a zurito before heading home for dinner. Then on to Zaspi, which we had not yet tried, and where we ended up staying to taste through practically the entire menu of incredible Pintxos (though I think what we had far exceeded the normal definition of Pintxos.) So much creativity, such attention to fine ingredients, so much artful preparation. So the excursion ended there with big smiles and full tummies. A quick stop at another local, Valles on Reyes Catholicos (reputedly the birthplace of the Gilda), for one last Tinto and to scratch the ears of a neighbor’s dog, and then it was Buenas Noches, San Sebastián. All this is just to say thank you for the amazing and delightful introduction to your amazing little city. We will return.

If you want the perfect primer for learning your way around the numerous bars and food scene in San Sebastian, there is no better way than taking this tour. Our guide (Enara) was terrific, and the foods were delicious (and things we probably would never have ordered on our own.) A highlight of our trip!

After an incredible recommendation from my some friends, I decided to book in for the pintxos tour, and was told we had to request Arantxa as our guide... well we were not disappointed. This was our favourite night in San Sebastián.. Arantxa was the most knowledgable, entertaining and passionate host we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. The night was an absolute dream, with incredible food and perfectly paired wines, all chosen by Arantxa. Arantxa went above and beyond providing the whole group with not only an incredible dining experience but also a historical tour of the town and basque culture. Would recommend to anyone who loves food, and wants to know the exclusive tapas destinations and their signature dishes in San Sebastián ... and don't forget to ask for Arantxa!! 100000 thanks, an unforgettable night for me and my friends. Eskerrik Asko Mimo San Sebastián!

An amazing tour all around. A lot more food & drink than you would expect. Each one is different as they choose different places and they have many tours going on each night. Great people and gives you great ideas for future meals and pintxos to not miss! Highly recommend.

We had a lunch tour with Arantxa and it was the absolute best we had during our two week trip (we went on five tours in different cities). She was very informative about San Sebastián's history and all the places she took us to were amazing. She tailored the pinxtos based on our personal preferences and followed up with a detailed email with suggestions of where to go (this was incredibly helpful given the overabundance of pinxto bars in the city). All the pinxtos that she recommended were delicious and atypical. She was also incredibly nice - it really felt like we were touring with a friend in the city!

San Sebastian has recently been ranked as one of the top food destinations in the world. It is a foodie paradise with so many food bars options to explore and try to your heart's content. The only way to describe what is Pixtnos is to say that it is bite size food masterpieces. It is not Tapas-I believe it is necessary to go on a tour and specifically this tour to experience the best food you will every had the opportunity to eat at a price point that is accessible to all. These food experts can laser focus the experience and choose the best of the best of over 120+ Pintxo Bars that are in this town. Lourdes Erquicia, is one of the top experts of this movement. She was on Anthony Bourdain's recent San Sebastian show sitting next to him on one of the segments that highlighted the special Men's Food Clubs. As the only woman chosen in the segment to be included in this all male club speaks volumes on who she is and how recognized and admired her food credibility is. Her expertise and command on navigating these overflowing bars with 4 people deep in each bar was amazing. She slid in each bar with us and secured hard to get seating for our family of 4. Literally, the waves of people opened up and she had direct access to the staff of the bar where she gave them our order. Her recommendations of what to eat was beyond amazing. We ate the most divine and memorable food that you can imagined. We pride ourselves as being a foodie family- our trips are planned around which Michelin Star restaurant or obscure food joint we recently read about. This is foodie heaven...and Lourdes helped make this experience one we will never forget!
