"Welcome Jon Warren and his San Sebastian Food. Not only a beautiful city just 20 minutes from the French border, San Sebastian also has a wonderful Basque food experience to offer." -Weekend Post
Discover the lesser-known side of Basque Country. We invite you to experience the chic, fabulously French Basque Country in this tour, designed to take you into the Belle Epoque flavored world of the towns and villages of Iparralde (literally, the North side).
Take a leisurely stroll through the glamourous streets of Biarritz, the chic coastal gem. Our local experts will lead you through Les Halles de Biarritz, the famous food market, whose selection of regional cheeses, wines and seasonal bounty is on another level. We’ll take a midday aperitif with a distinct local flavor before moving further south to St. Jean de Luz. This enchanting fishing village is charming and -better yet- undiscovered by all but the select French cognoscenti. An elegant seaside lunch featuring French Basque cuisine and techniques finishes this magical tour of Le Pays Basque.
"First off, our family Loves San Sebastian, which is now officially our favorite destination. This year we wanted to take a day trip across the France border to explore St. Biarritz and St. Jean de Lus. Thankfully we went with San Sebastian food tours and had Vicky as our guide....an excellent day our family had! (My wife & I and 4 of our kids, ages 11 to 25.) It's a 30 minute drive into France and Biarritz is another 20-30 minutes once you cross the border. We had a wonderful walk, learning about the massive home Napoleon built for his wife which now operates as a 5 star hotel, and more. After exploring Biarritz, our driver took to St. Jean de Lus, a charming, manicured small city with pleasant streets and mix of stores/vendors to peruse. We experienced the local market as part of the tour - always a family favorite. We wrapped up with lunch at a Michelen star restaurant in St. Jean de Lus - understated decor, great service and wonderful food. Request Vicky if you can. She's extremely knowledgeable on the history and a charming person to spend a day with."
France day trip Vicky, our guide, took us on beautiful walks along the French coast and through the streets and food courts of two lovely French cities. It was topped off by a great lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant in St. Jean de Luc. We would enthusiastically try any event or trip that SSF had to offer.
